Walking into Gibson’s at the V&A Waterfront, I was welcomed by a lively atmosphere and a dazzling view of the harbor. The layout is comfortable, boasting both indoor and outdoor seating—perfect for those sunny Cape Town days. The casual vibe creates a relaxed space to enjoy a good meal, whether you’re flying solo or dining with friends.
The menu is a treasure trove for burger fans. The burgers use 28-day matured cuts, and you can choose between sturdy sesame-seed and soft brioche buns, crafted daily. I’ve got to say, I was quite curious about their milkshake selection, with over 200 different flavors. Talk about variety!
While Gibson’s has its share of ups and downs, many folks rave about the amazing milkshakes and friendly staff. My friend Jane swears by the gourmet milkshakes, claiming they’re the highlight of the meal. But I did overhear some chatter about slow service and inconsistencies. Not ideal, right?
As for the location, it couldn’t be better for a post-meal stroll. And if you’re bringing the kiddos, they’ve got a children’s menu and plenty of space for them to enjoy.
Even with the mixed reviews, I think Gibson’s has potential. After all, who doesn’t love a good burger and a fantastic milkshake? Just maybe, keep your expectations in check.
